La galleria Giorgio Galotti in concomitanza del primo festival di fotografia Fo.To, organizzato dal Museo Ettore Fico in collaborazione con il Comune di Torino, ha il piacere di presentare una mostra concepita insieme a Gianni Ferrero Merlino sul tema dell’abitare e su come esso sia connaturato alla fotografia, nella sua pratica e nel suo istinto.
‘La bottega oscura’ invita idealmente Georges Perec, autore del libro cui è ispirato il titolo del progetto, a relazionarsi con un gruppo ristretto di opere fotografiche che attivano una riflessione sullo spazio e sulle azioni all’interno di esso, attraverso chiari riferimenti all’architettura, alle forme primarie e le funzioni primordiali racchiuse nella ricerca di fotografi come Luisa Lambri, Erik van der Weijde, Joanna Piotrowska, Sara Ravelli e lo stesso Gianni Ferrero Merlino.
Durante il periodo di mostra l’osservatore è invitato a permanere nello spazio sia come visitatore, sia attraverso alcune aperture straordinarie notturne, il 3 maggio in concomitanza dell’apertura ufficiale del festival Fo.To e il 12 Maggio in occasione della notte bianca della fotografia che chiude la settimana della Fiera del Libro di Torino.

On the occasion of the first edition of photography festival Fo.To, organized by Museo Ettore Fico together with the City of Turin, Giorgio Galotti gallery is pleased to present an exhibition conceived with Gianni Ferrero Merlino on the theme of living and how it is inherent to photography, in its practice and its instinct.
‘La bottega oscura’ (The dark shop) invites Georges Perec, author of the book which inspired the title of the project, to relate with a small group of photographic works triggering a reflection on the ‘space’ and all the actions inside it, through clear references to architecture, primary shapes and primordial functions contained in the research of photographers such as Luisa Lambri, Erik van der Weijde, Joanna Piotrowska, Sara Ravelli and Gianni Ferrero Merlino.
During the exhibition time each visitor is invited to stay in the gallery space as an observer and as a body through some extraordinary night openings: on May 3rd, coinciding with the official start of the Fo.To festival and on May 12th, on the occasion of the ‘White Night of Photography’ a moment that will also close the week of the Turin Book Fair.
