Its sixth space to date (two in Milan, one in London, one in Hong Kong, and one virtual – named VSpace) will be housed in a historical building in 57, Rue de Turenne and is currently being renovated by acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.
Massimo De Carlo has acquired the gallery and brand Pièce Unique, a unique adventure by iconic gallerist Lucio Amelio who opened in 1989 an unusual space with the distinctive program of showing only one work at a time, visible day and night through its glass window (at the time designed by Cy Twombly) and organized sensational exhibitions under this premise.
The legacy of this historical project will be respected and recast by Massimo De Carlo who will present with Massimo De Carlo Pièce Unique a flexible, dynamic, and unpredictable program of single-work, unique exhibitions, and renew the original idea, with the aim of infusing a new perspective and adding an alternative exhibition model into the art system. Massimo De Carlo Pièce Unique will also experiment a new balance between physical projects and digital initiatives.
