UN PROGETTO DI ARTISTI PER ARTISTI
Gli artisti del gruppo DIOGENE bandiscono la IX edizione del concorso internazionale “Diogene Bivaccourbano_R 2015”, ideata secondo una nuova formula che concilia – evidenziandolo nella lettera R – la modalità ormai sperimentata della Residenza, con l’esigenza di sostenere con più energia il lavoro di Ricerca .
Aperta a tutti gli artisti italiani e stranieri, l’iniziativa si propone di attivare una modalità inedita di approfondimento sull’operare artistico, offrendo un sostegno economico e organizzativo destinato a favorire la ricerca, dando la possibilità all’artista di dedicarsi, sul medio-lungo periodo, al proprio lavoro artistico. La nuova modalità permette all’artista di essere maggiormente svincolato da obblighi e limiti spazio-temporali ed ha l’obiettivo di alimentare, da una parte il dialogo tra artisti, e dall’altra di focalizzare l’attenzione sulla comprensione profonda della poetica del lavoro.
TERMINI E CONDIZIONI DEL CONCORSO
Art. 1- Requisiti
a – Il concorso è aperto a tutti gli artisti nazionali e internazionali, operanti nel settore specifico delle arti visive, senza restrizioni di genere, tecnica ed età.
b – i candidati devono avere una discreta conoscenza della lingua inglese e/o italiana ( parlata e scritta ).
Art. 2 – Premio
Una borsa di ricerca pari ad euro 6000 (al lordo delle imposte) per il sostegno del lavoro artistico nei cinque mesi di rapporto con Diogene. Tale cifra sarà gestita liberamente dall’artista selezionato e sarà devoluta in tre tranches: il 50% all’inizio del periodo di ricerca, il 25% durante la fase intermedia del lavoro e il restante 25% a conclusione del momento di restituzione finale.
Art. 3 -I luoghi di Residenza a Torino
a – Tram Diogene: luogo abitativo e sede operativa per l’artista, situato a Torino sulla rotonda tra C.so Verona e C.so Regio Parco.*
b – Studio/laboratorio: affittato all’occorrenza, per un periodo da concordare con l’artista in base alle necessità.*
c – Spazio espositivo: che accoglie l’evento di restituzione finale del lavoro svolto dall’artista. La copertura dei costi di allestimento, affitto spazi e gestione di tale evento è a carico dell’associazione Diogene. L’evento è previsto per l’anno 2016.
* E’ preferibile che l’artista selezionato concentri la sua attività a Torino nei mesi di settembre e di ottobre 2015, mesi durante i quali Progetto Diogene può garantire assistenza e supporto logistico. In ogni caso sarà offerto libero accesso al tram (previo accordo con Diogene) durante tutti cinque mesi di copertura della borsa.
Art. 4 – Durata della residenza e obblighi dell’artista
All’artista è richiesto di Impegnarsi a svolgere la sua ricerca per una durata di cinque mesi a partire dal 1 agosto 2015 e di garantire una presenza nella città di Torino e sul Tram di Diogene per un periodo che va da un minimo di uno ad un massimo di due mesi (anche non consecutivi). L’artista selezionato avrà l’obbligo, durante i momenti di permanenza a Torino, di un confronto a cadenza regolare con i membri di Progetto Diogene. Per tutta la durata della ricerca sarà possibile concordare supporto tecnico-organizzativo degli artisti del gruppo Diogene.
Art. 5 – Eventi/laboratori
a – L’artista sarà invitato a tenere incontri pubblici in forma di talk e studio-visit. Durante il periodo di residenza saranno organizzati una serie di eventi di approfondimento durante i quali l’artista avrà la possibilità di presentare il proprio percorso di ricerca (sia in via privata al gruppo Diogene che ad un pubblico più allargato). In concomitanza con la Fiera Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea Artissima (6-9 novembre 2015), è prevista la presentazione pubblica del lavoro svolto in residenza, in forma di open studio.
b – All’artista è richiesta l’ideazione e conduzione di un percorso formativo (laboratorio di un minimo di 3-4 incontri), presso le scuole del quartiere Aurora di Torino, in linea con il tema della propria ricerca artistica e in collaborazione con Diogene Lab (sezione formativo-didattica di Progetto Diogene).
Art. 6 – Evento finale
Presentazione finale della ricerca artistica svolta nei cinque mesi di residenza nel 2016.
Art. 7 – Documentazione richiesta
Per partecipare al concorso gli artisti interessati sono pregati di compilare la domanda on-line a questo indirizzo:www.progettodiogene.eu/application_form_2015
e allegare un unico file formato .PDF (max 10 Mb) contenente:
> IMMAGINI e TESTI relativi ad massimo di 10 lavori, riportando indicazioni quali il titolo, data, materiali utilizzati, dimensioni e una breve descrizione dell’opera. E’ possibile segnalare fino a 4 link per i lavori video.
> STATEMENT
> PROGETTO di ricerca che si intende sviluppare. (massimo due pagine A4)
> CURRICULUM VITAE
Art. 8 – Scadenza
Le domande di partecipazione dovranno essere inviate entro il 30 giugno 2015
Art. 9 – Selezione
I progetti pervenuti saranno valutati da una giuria composta dagli artisti di Progetto Diogene. (Franco Ariaudo, Andrea Caretto, Manuele Cerutti, Luca Luciano, Laura Pugno, Raffaella Spagna e Cosimo Veneziano) Il nominativo del vincitore del concorso verrà reso noto a fine luglio 2015, tramite comunicazione diretta all’interessato e mediante pubblicazione dei risultati sul sito internet.
Progetto Diogene si riserva la possibilità di contattare gli artisti partecipanti per un’intervista via skype o di persona in caso di necessità di chiarimenti e approfondimento del lavoro.
L’adesione al premio implica l’accettazione completa ed incondizionata del presente bando.
A PROJECT BY ARTISTS FOR ARTISTS
The artists of the group DIOGENE announce the ninth edition of the international competition “Diogene Bivaccourbano_R 2015″, designed according to a new formula fostering research – highlighted by the letter R – that combines a successfully proven mode of artistic residency with the need to more fully support the work of research.
Open to all italian and foreign artists, the initiative aims to activate a brand-new depth in artistic work by providing economic and organizational support aimed at fostering research, thus giving the artist the opportunity to focus on his/her artistic work in the medium-long term. This new way allows the artist to be free of further obligations and limits of space and time, and its aim, on the one hand, is to engender dialogue among the artists, and on the other hand, to focus on deeply understanding of the poetics of the work.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION
Art. 1- Requirements
a – The competition is open to all italian and international artists, working in the specific field of visual arts, without restriction of gender, age, and technique.
b – Candidates must have a good knowledge of english and/or italian (spoken and written).
Art. 2 – Award
The award is a research grant of € 6,000 (before tax) to support the artist’s work in the five-month relationship with Diogene. The amount will be managed freely by the selected artist and will be granted in three parts: 50% at the beginning of the research period, 25% during the intermediate phase of work, and the remaining 25% at the final event/phase.
Art. 3 -The Turin Residency places
a – The Diogene Tram: a place to live and the operational headquarters for the artist, located in Turin on the roundabout between Corso Verona and Corso Regio Parco.*
b – Studio/lab: rented if necessary, for a period to be agreed upon with the artist according to their needs.*
c – Exhibition space: this space hosts the final event of the artist’s work. The association Diogene will cover the costs for the set-up, space rental, and management. The event is scheduled to take place in 2016.
* It is preferable for the artist to concentrate his/her activities in Turin during the months of September and October 2015, when the artists of the Diogene project can provide assistance and logistical support. In any case, free access to the tram will be offered (in agreement with Diogene) during all five months of the grant’s coverage.
Art. 4 – Length of residency and duties of the artist
The artist is required to undertake to carry out his/her research for a period of five months, starting on August 1, 2015, and to ensure their presence in the city of Turin and the Diogene Tram for a period ranging from a minimum of one month to a maximum of two months (not necessarily consecutive). During their stay in Turin, the selected artist will be required to meet on a regular basis with the members of Progetto Diogene, who will also provide them with technical and organizational support for the entire duration of their research.
Art. 5 – Events/workshops
a – The artist will be invited to hold public meetings in the form of talks and an open studio visit. During the period of residency, a series of in-depth events will be organized to give the artist the opportunity to present his/her path of research (both to Progetto Diogene in a private way, and to a wider public). The public presentation of the work carried out during the residency is planned in conjunction with Artissima, the International Fair of Contemporary Art (November 6-9, 2015), in the open studio form.
b – The artist is required to devise and conduct a formative course (a workshop of at least 3-4 meetings) at public schools in Turin’s Aurora district, in line with the theme of his/her artistic research and in partnership with Diogene Lab (the didactic-formative section of Progetto Diogene).

Art. 7 – Required Documents

Art. 8 – Deadline
Applications must be sent by June 30, 2015
Art. 9 - Selection
The projects received will be evaluated by a jury composed of the artists of Progetto Diogene (Franco Ariaudo, Andrea Caretto, Manuele Cerutti, Luca Luciano, Laura Pugno, Raffaella Spagna e Cosimo Veneziano). The name of the winner will be made known at the end of July 2015, by direct communication with the selected artist and with the publication of the results on the website.
Progetto Diogene reserves the right to contact the participating artists for an interview via Skype or in person, in case of any need for clarification and further information concerning their work.
Eligibility for the grant implies the complete and unconditional acceptance of this competition announcement.
