 – Giovedì 16 aprile 2015, alle ore 18, al Tram Diogene ricominciano gli incontri di Serie inversa. Dopo Silvia Margaria, ospite nell’appuntamento di dicembre, l’artista invitata a parlare del proprio lavoro sarà Ambra Pittoni (Borgomanero – NO) che, insieme a Paul-Flavien Enriquez-Sarano, ha dato vita nel 2009 al duo di performer Ze Coeupel. Dall’introduzione del loro statement si può da subito intuire un certo approccio al linguaggio performativo, quando scrivono che «un’opera non illustra un mondo, un’opera lo produce »; una dichiarazione che esplicita non solo un utilizzo strumentale del gesto e del movimento ma ne rivendica anche il fine dell’atto performativo. Un uso del corpo che è relazionale e connettivo allo stesso tempo, e permette alle loro opere di emergere «coinvolgendo simultaneamente vari tipi di riflessioni e mezzi artistici; il dialogo costante tra varie discipline e diversi campi di conoscenza ha ormai attuato un completo superamento delle barriere tra generi artistici».

Tra le tante esperienze, hanno presentato il loro lavoro presso Sophiensaele, Werkstatt der Kulturen, la galleria Exile di Berlino, il Lazzaretto di Cagliari, Careof/DOCVA/Viafarini, il Museo del 900 a Milano, il Museo MAGA di Gallarate, l’Art Space Gallery di Parigi, CIAC centro internazionale d’arte contemporanea di Genazzano. Insieme hanno partecipato a residenze artistiche presso la Friche de la Belle de Mai, Theatre des Bernardines di Marsiglia, il centro d’arte contemporanea Ujazdowski Castle di Varsavia e la Fondazione Spinola Banna. Nel 2014 hanno ricevuto una borsa di studio per la residenza presso il centro d’Arte contemporanea Ashkal Alwan di Beirut a cui è susseguita la mostra collettiva “Museum of Immortality”.

Questo talk ridarà il via agli incontri informali di Serie Inversa, programma annuale attraverso il quale Progetto Diogene porta avanti un’iniziativa di scouting del giovane panorama creativo piemontese, con l’intenzione di conoscere quegli artisti che operano o si sono affacciati di recente alla ricerca nel campo delle arti visive e di dargli l’opportunità di entrare in contatto con un pubblico anche al di fuori del loro solito ambiente di lavoro. Questa attività si è sviluppata assumendo i tratti in un percorso di tutoraggio e accompagnamento durante il quale – affiancandosi all’artista e alla sua opera – artisti e pubblico intervengono in modo formativo e critico nella discussione, incidendo su molti degli aspetti che riguardano la sfera della produzione, della formazione teorica e del posizionamento della pratica artistica all’interno della società in questo momento storico. Serie Inversa, come tutte le attività di Progetto Diogene, è realizzato grazie al contributo della Compagnia di San Paolo e la collaborazione di GTT – Gruppo Torinese Trasporti.

Turin – On Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Diogene Tram, at 6 p.m., Serie Inversa will resume its meetings where artists are invited to talk about their work. After Silvia Margaria, the guest of the appointment in December, this time the guest artist will be Ambra Pittoni (Borgomanero, Novara) who created the performance duo Ze Coeupel together with Paul-Flavien Enriquez-Sarano in 2009.

A certain approach to performance language can be perceived immediately when they write in the introduction of their statement that, “a work of art does not illustrate a world, a work of art produces one”; this is a statement that explains not only an instrumental use of gesture and movement, but also one that asserts the purpose of the performative act. Theirs is a use of the body which is relational and connective at the same time, and which allows their work to emerge “simultaneously involving various types of reflections and artistic means; the constant dialogue between the various disciplines and different fields of knowledge has now led to a complete overcoming of the barriers between artistic genres.”

Among their many experiences, they have presented their work at Sophiensaele, Werkstatt der Kulturen, Exile Gallery in Berlin, the Lazzaretto Cultural Center in Cagliari, Careof/DOCVA/Viafarini, Museum of the Twentieth Century in Milan, MAGA Museum in Gallarate, Art Space Gallery in Paris, and at CIAC, International Center of Contemporary Art in Genazzano, Italy. Together they have participated in residencies at the Friche de la Belle de Mai, Theatre des Bernardines in Marseilles, the Center of Contemporary Art at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw and at the Spinola Banna Foundation, in the province of Turin. In 2014, they received a grant for the artist-in-residence program at the the Center of Contemporary Art Ashkal Alwan in Beirut, after which they participated in the collective exhibition entitled “Museum of Immortality”.

This talk will kick off the informal meetings of Reverse Series, an annual program where the Diogene Project carries out an initiative of scouting the scene in Piedmont of young creativity, with the intention of getting to know those artists who are already working on or have recently undertaken research in the field of visual arts and to give them the opportunity to make contact with an audience outside of their usual working environment. This activity has developed into a sort of process of tutoring and support during which – alongside the artist and his/her work–other artists and audience members get involved in the discussion in a constructive and critical way, thereby having an impact on many of the aspects that relate to the sphere of production, theoretical training, and the positioning of artistic practice in society at this historic moment. As with all the Progetto Diogene activities, Reverse Series has been made possible thanks to the contribution of the Compagnia di San Paolo Bank and the collaboration of GTT–(Turin Transport Group).
