Le pizze di Yusuke Saito alla galleria Page di New York
CS
Yusuke’s practice revolves around his curiosity, collection, and incorporation of discarded everyday rubbish, energizing the overlooked and mundane. For Yusuke, the act of reimagining the ordinary through a Yugen-like transformative process is simultaneously benign and stimulating. Closely observing people’s daily habits and vestiges, Yusuke overlays his experiences and thoughts to express an impression of what it feels like to live in the moment.
In his new works, Yusuke quotes the shape and taste of pizza—constructing angular and woven matrixes, topped with sour hard fruit, swamp plant BBQ, and sweet candy pepperonis, among other ingredients that could be found in the mini-fridge of a crashed UFO. Yusuke’s latest creations are infused with a touch of enchantment and whimsy as newly condensed masses of life. Ceramic midnight snacks delivered straight from Tokyo to NYC, hot and fresh at Page.
