Il prossimo Mercoledì 23 Gennaio alle ore 18:30 il Quartz Studio ha il piacere di presentare "lei tesse vicino alla bocca / vedo ciò che mangio / mangio ciò che vedo / mangiare è un pò rischiare", la prima mostra personale in Italia dell'artista svedese Astrid Svangren (Göteborg, Svezia, 1972), proposta dalla curatrice danese Nina Wöhlk.
L'installazione site-specific studiata per Quartz Studio cerca di pensare, attraverso il colore, come un essere vivente, dotato della capacità di agire, influenzare ed essere influenzato dal contesto che gli conferisce la forma. Esplora il colore come linguaggio che dà significato a emozioni, pensieri, sogni e a tutte le loro contraddizioni, opponendosi ad ogni altra forma espressiva. Il colore non si piega al linguaggio, si conosce solo se viene vissuto. Il lavoro è il tentativo di conoscere ciò che non si può dire. Le opere di Astrid Svangren si collocano al limite della pittura. Superando le tradizionali tele incorniciate, sono volumi tridimensionali realizzati con tessuti, fogli di alluminio e oggetti trovati. Racchiudono segni, tracce e gesti, non sono meri strumenti concettuali per pensieri e idee, da osservare e interpretare, ma vanno vissuti. Per l’artista, l’esperienza travalica i confini della parola. Esponente di una nuova consapevolezza che critica i canoni concettuali dominanti del pensiero occidentale, Svangren amplifica i mezzi di comunicazione paralinguistici, il multisensoriale e il femminile. Le sue opere si rifanno a quelle degli artisti Eva Hesse, Lynda Bengalis e Robert Smithson, e le poetesse Hélene Cixous, Katarina Frostenson e Inger Christensen sono per lei costante fonte d’ispirazione.

Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 6:30 pm, Quartz Studio is pleased to present her spinning takes place near the mouth / I see what I eat / I eat what I see / It is an eating that is about risk, the first solo show in Italy by the Swedish artist Astrid Svangren (Göteborg, Sweden, 1972), drafted by the Danish curator Nina Wöhlk. The site-specific installation conceived for Quartz Studio will seek to think through colour as a living entity. Something that has agency, the ability to shape and be shaped by the context that gives it its form. It will explore colour as a language that gives meaning to feelings, thoughts, and dreams and all their contradictions, and which resists any other form of expression. Colour as irreducible to language; experienced only as lived. The work is an attempt to know what cannot be said. Svangren’s works are found at the very edge of painting. More than traditionally framed canvases, they are three-dimensional volumes of textile, foils and found materials. Her works comprise signs, traces and gestures, which are not merely conceptual vehicles for concepts and ideas, observed and interpreted, but lived. For her, to experience goes beyond the limits of speech. As part of a new critical awareness against the dominant conceptual tenets of Western-oriented thinking, Svangren amplifies para-linguistic means of communication, the multi-sensorial and the feminine.
Svangren can be seen with reference to artists as Eva Hesse, Lynda Bengalis and Robert Smithson, while poets such as Hélene Cixous, Katarina Frostenson and Inger Christensen continue to inspire her.
