Traits d’union.s is the central programme of Manifesta 13 Marseille. Devised into six plots, The Home, The Refuge, The Almshouse, The Port, The Park and The School; Traits d’union.s will take place across Marseille, including in six city museums and other unexpected venues. The plots of Traits d’union.s will open successively from the 28th of August until 9th of October, after which they will be on view concurrently until the 29th of November 2020. The work presented by 47 participants are a combination of newly conceived and commissioned works, as well as important historic works. A public programme consisting of talks, a film programme and listening sessions will take place at the same time from the 27th of August 2020.

The pre-biennial urban study Le Grand Puzzle forms a blueprint for the artistic concept of Manifesta 13 Marseille. The study conceived by the Dutch architect Winy Maas and The Why Factory will be available at Espace Manifesta 13 from the 28th of August (pre-order online here). Conceptualised and brought together by Manifesta’s Artistic Team, Traits d’union.s (the French word for hyphen) aims to seek new modes of being together, presenting itself as tool for local institutions, associations and cultural producers to connect, exchange and co-create with the researchers, artists, and architects invited by Manifesta 13 Marseille as participants.
