Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi start with Circuito Off

The fourteenth edition of Circuito Off will be started at the Teatrino di  Palazzo Grassi from 28th to 31st August with the artist Daniele Puppi and  his video installations “Cinema Rianimato n. 3” and “Godzilla”: two works  that are part of a group of research activities concerning the reelaboration of the cinematographic experience and the experimentation of  new ways to manipulate images, sounds and space, revolutionising its  contents and meanings and creating – in fact – a new multi-sensory  physical experience.

Besides the International contest finalists, who will be announced soon by  the selection committee, several anticipations stand out.

The special section Fil Rouge presents three women directors, very  different from each other, narrating three unusual female universes.

Tejal Shah, born in India, lives and works in Bombay; through her visionary  and imaginative “Between the waves” (presented at Documenta 13), she  shows a surreal world populated by unicorn women who collect plastic in  woods and communicate in a lunar landscape using a mirror.

Athina Rachel Tsangari, a Greek director, narrates a dreamlike world of  seven girls pent-up in a castle perched on a rock in the Cyclades in “The  Capsule”. Strictness, desire and death are the ingredients of this movie  representing the essential dialogue of cinema with fashion and art.

Dara Friedman, born in Germany and living and working in Miami, develops  and reproduces scenes from the intimate life of some couplesin her video  “Play” (presented at Unlimited Art Basel). The poetic situations and the  intense and fun rhythm of the scenes spring from a work based upon  theatre improvisation.

And then, a selection of the best works realised by two famous authors:  the unpredictable worlds of the Irish David O’Reilly and the talented Italian  Marco Morandi, proposing a view with no filters on Computer Animation’s  evolutions.
